    As it name suggests, Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge is known for the herds of elephants that can be spotted roaming its plains.

    But other large animals also gather here to slake their thirst, especially now that the intermittent Savute Channel has started flowing through Chobe National Park once again after an absence of nearly 30 years.

Belmond Eagle Lodge is the only luxury Safari lodge in the Okavango Delta that boasts a permanently based helicopter. Enjoy a 35min scenic helicopter safari over the Okavango Delta, offering incredible photographic opportunities of the diverse landscapes and wildlife that the area is renowned for.
$340.00 per person for a 35 minute seat-in-helicopter scenic flight experience.

Special notes: Extra bed/triple room usage for 12 years and older will be charged the 3rd person rate subject to availability at time of booking.

All accommodation rates are based on per person sharing per night and inclusive of: Accommodation, meals (breakfast,lunch, tea and dinner), all drinks including a select list of branded spirits and wines but excluding VSOP spirits, reserve wines & imported champagne, daily laundry services. At least 2 game viewing activities daily, emergency medical evacuation insurance and national park fees, VAT in Botswana. And exclusive of: Inter-lodge flights, gratuities, items of a personal nature, travel insurance, costs of obtaining visas, satellite phone charges.

Special notes: Extra bed/triple room usage will be charged on a per person sharing basis in a triple room. 1 night stays on special request only.
Children: Children under 12 sharing a room with two full paying adults will be charged the 3rd person sharing rate. Children under 12 sharing a twin room with an adult will be charged the normal contracted per person sharing rate.
Suites – the suites at Belmond Khwai River Lodge and Belmond Eagle Island Lodge include an outdoor bathroom, private plunge pool.

The Rates are per person per night sharing with a single supplement applicable for single occupancy. Group bookings of ten or more Guests (5 or more rooms) will not be covered by this Contract, and needs to be requested separately for quoting purposes.

The Rates are inclusive of:

  • Accommodation in twin-bedded rooms with air conditioning
  • Botswana National park fees
  • Emergency medical evacuation insurance
  • Government levied General Sales Tax (currently 12%; any increase shall be for the account of the Tour Operator pursuant to clause 2.4 of Schedule 4)
  • All meals: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner
  • All drinks, teas, coffees, soft drinks, house wines, local beer and a select list of spirits
  • Daily laundry services
  • 2 game viewing activities per day

The rates are exclusive of:

  • Scheduled and / or private inter-lodge flight costs from Maun, other lodges, Kasane or Livingstone
  • Scheduled and / or private road transfers from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe or boat / road transfers from Livingstone, Zambia
  • VSOP Spirits, South African Reserve Wines and important Champagne
  • Botswana departure tax where applicable
  • The helicopter flight safari activity at Belmond Eagle Island Lodge which can be pre-booked at an additional cost.

All Rates (including those that are attributed to the helicopter excursion at Belmond Eagle Island Lodge) are subject to any increase outside the Company’s control and or by the amount of any future increase in General Sales Tax, VAT and/or levy rates. Any such increase to take effect from the date upon which any such future increase is announced. The Company will give written notice to the Tour Operator of any future GST, VAT or levy changes, of the consequentially revised rate and of the date from which such revised rate is to take effect.

Additional Person / Children’s Policy

Children are considered those between the ages of 6 and 11 years old and the following conditions will apply: Children will be required to have an adult (over the age of 16) accompanying them at all times when in the lodge. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure this. Children will be required to sleep in the parents’ rooms and be accompanied in a room with at least 1 adult (over the age of 16).
Children under 6 years of age are not permitted to stay at our lodge, due to safety reasons. The inter-lodge flights are charged at the full price. Verification of the child's age is required prior to traveling by means of passport details.

6 to 11 years of age (Child)

ONE extra bed can be placed in a luxury room, upon availability a maximum of 2 triple luxury rooms per lodge per night at an additional cost per night. The accommodation will be based on a fully inclusive basis including 2 game viewing activities per day (although there may be restrictions on certain activities for children aged 6-11 years of age). Extra beds are subject to availability.    

12 years and over (Adult)

ONE extra bed can be placed in a luxury room, upon availability a maximum of 2 triple luxury rooms  per lodge per night at an additional cost per night. The accommodation will be based on a fully inclusive basis including 2 game viewing activities per day. Extra beds are subject to availability.

Kindly note that accommodation is limited to a maximum of three persons in a room. There are a limited number of extra beds. Private vehicle hire for families are subject to availability at the time of booking and/or check-in, are on a request basis, and will be charged at an additional rate.

Arrival & Departure Times

The general arrival time is from 14:00pm. The general departure time is 11:00am.

Smoking Laws

Please be advised that due to stringent smoking laws, all public areas (with the exception of the outside areas) and all rooms have been declared non-smoking areas under the Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act, any person who fails to comply with this notice shall be prosecuted and may be liable to a fine.

Deposits

20% of the total invoiced amount. The balance of payment is due 45 days prior to arrival.

Cancellation Policy

1. Cancellation / reduction in numbers received between 90 and 46 days prior to arrival, 20% of the contracted rate will be charged
2. Cancellation / reduction in numbers received between 45 and 31 days prior to arrival, 50% of the contracted rate will be charged
3. Cancellation received less than 30 days prior to arrival then 100% of the contracted rate will be charged

12 Luxury Tented Rooms

Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge offers an oasis type setting in complete luxury. All luxury tents are housed on raised wooden platforms, offering great views, and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof.
The large private decks are furnished with easy chairs and a hammock, ideal for viewing wildlife, or for enjoying a private dinner in complete privacy, except for some glowing wild eyes...
The tent interiors are luxuriously appointed with such comforts as an en suite bathroom, private fully stocked mini bar, four poster bed with mosquito netting, as well as discreet air conditioning.
The 12 twin-bedded luxury canvas tentsblend beautifully with their surrounding with well appointed ensuite bathrooms and dressing areas.
They also have private viewing decks and comfortable outdoor lounges overlooking the Channel.

All rates above exclude departure taxes payable in cash on departing Livingstone and Victoria Falls Airport to Kasane Airport. For all flights a minimum of 2 passengers per flight transfer is required. Should a client arrive at an airport with excess luggage without prior arrangements we reserve the right to charge the client to transport the excess luggage. 

PASSENGER LIMITATIONS ON INTER-CAMP FLIGHTS
All inter-camp flights provided by the preferred 3rd party charter company, whom are subcontracted by Gametrackers PTY (LTD), trading as Belmond Safaris, are governed by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), standards. The contracted Operator is strongly recommended to advise Gametrackers PTY (LTD) in writing should any of the following limitation be exceeded so the necessary arrangements can be made in advance of travel.
• The average male passenger weight is 98 kg per person
1. The average female passenger weight is 80 kg per person
a. Children (aged 8 to 111 years) are 35 kg per person

It is the responsibility if the Operator to ensure that its clients are fully aware of the luggage allowance of 20kgs (soft bag) per person including hand luggage, should they be utilising the service inter-camp flights. The maximum luggage taken on board per passenger is 20 kg, including hand luggage
a. The luggage comprises of soft type bags, each with a maximum dimension of 35 cm by 70 cm in order to fit into the pod door.
Please note no hard frames or wheels.
It is the responsibility of the Operator to ensure that its clients are fully aware of the luggage allowance of 20kgs (soft bag) per person including hand luggage, should they be utilising the service inter-camp flights. The Lodge Company cannot be held responsible for any extra costs incurred as a result of the above conditions not being adhered to.

    CHOBE NATIONAL PARK : Botswana's Chobe National Park is a dynamic wilderness. A sweeping expanse of savannah is dotted by rocky outcrops surrounding a marsh and the Savute Channel.Unpredictable wet and dry cycles shape the landscape and wildlife. The Savute Channel flows again after nearly 30 years of lying dormant, but will still dry up from time to time without warning.
